Miss Black America Coed Roneshia Jene' Ray is driven by her determination to not let outside distractions derail her from her ultimate destination. Vying for the state Texas titleholder three times before gaining the national crown, Roneshia is the picture of never give up. She now uses her story of her “don’t quit attitude” to empower the next generation of girls by encouraging them to dream.
i D.R.E.A.M. Determination, Rarefied, Endurance, Adversity, and Mentorship, Roneshia’s platform for her reign as Miss Black America Coed, promotes Educational, Social, and Fine Arts development for young adults and children through workshops, community outreach programs, and engaging volunteer programs. Through iD.R.E.A.M. Roneshia, has partnered with schools and community organizations to aid high school seniors applying for college and mentor young girls by hosting a traveling charm school. To date, Roneshia has hosted 10 charm schools impacting the lives of over 800 girls and counting. “I want to create an atmosphere where youth can develop their dreams into reality,” said Roneshia.
Wanting the best for children is not just Roneshia’s pageant platform but also her life goal. Professionally, she is a teacher and would like to one day open a fine arts and literary school for students who are considered “at risk.” She wants to create an environment for them to grow through the arts, social skills, and visionary development. Roneshia holds degrees from Texas Southern University and Concordia University.
In her spare time when she is not educating today’s children or serving her community, she can found at the mall. The self-dubbed she fanatic owns 300 pairs of shoes! To say she has an obsession is an understatement. It is no surprise that her favorite color is glitter. Her hobbies include contemporary dance, cooking, and scrapbooking. She has won countless awards that include Houston’s Top 40 under 40 Influential Leaders, Empowered Women's Award Black Girls Social, and Texas Top 50 Models.
